Community Services

The Community Services Department serves as the link between the Corporation and the community in the areas of public information, community education, needs assessment, resource development, and evaluation of community programs which provide services to people with developmental disabilities.

The Community Services Department coordinates speakers for groups, publishes brochures and other information on developmental disabilities, produces the agency newsletter which is mailed to all consumers, local media and interested persons, and maintains the agency's website. The Community Services Department coordinates educational training programs for parents, staff, providers, and the community, as well as maintains a tape lending library consisting of video tapes. Contacts with the media are handled through the Community Services Department. Volunteers who work for the Corporation are recruited through Community Affairs.

Additionally, the Community Services Department is responsible for needs assessment and resource development. All requests for vendorization are processed by the staff in Community Services.

Formalized program evaluation is coordinated by Community Services staff and consists of evaluating the effectiveness of the services being directly provided and those purchased for consumers. Presently, formal evaluations of residential, adult day programs, independent living programs, infant programs and transportation services are regularly conducted.

Currently, there are 12 staff in the Community Services Department which includes the Community Services Director, Residential Services Coordinator, 3 Quality Assurance Evaluation Specialists, 2 Resource Coordinators, Public Information/Training/Volunteer Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, Transportation Assistant, and 3 support staff.
